We had some really nice food and drinks at the cafe gorge. For lunch we went for the gorge club toasties which were so good, not cheap but filling and glad I got to try it. We came back a bit later and tried the coffee and walnut cake which was unreal and at a fair price. The shakes were so good, I highly recommend the clotted cream vanilla shake, and my friend really enjoyed the strawberry shake.

This place is a fantastic spot! The food is truly amazing, especially their toast, which is perfectly crispy and flavorful. Their hot drinks are also top-notch, warming you up and complementing the meal beautifully. The best part is the view — sitting by the river, enjoying your food and drinks in such a picturesque setting, makes the experience absolutely unforgettable. Highly recommend for a relaxing and delicious outing!

Really lovely find - popped in for lunch on our visit to Cheddar Gorge today. Lovely atmosphere, outside seating area right next to water. Really good selection of food and drinks. We ordered the Cafe Gorge Club toastie which was absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend a visit

I visited on 7th March, and while the food was amazing (the toasties and cheese twist were delicious), the service was very disappointing. Despite having 6-7 staff members, there was no coordination. We sat at a messy table from previous customers that stayed uncleaned even after we requested help. Most frustratingly, people who ordered after us received their food first. We waited 25 minutes only for our food to be served on the still-dirty table; they eventually had to take our food back just so they could finally clean the surface. While the cashier was polite and offered a free cake to compensate for the inefficiency, we declined the offer as the experience had already been soured. It’s a bit pricey for such a lack of basic service.

⭐️⭐️ 2/5 – Overhyped and overpriced This place seems to have become famous on TikTok (apparently via some American Influencers), but as a British customer I found it pretty underwhelming. We paid £32 for two sandwiches — one toasted cheese (rarebit) and one cold sandwich with just cheese in it — and then had to pay extra for coleslaw on the side, which felt pretty cheeky. The food was… fine. Not bad, not great — but absolutely nowhere near worth the price or the hype. If you’re visiting Cheddar, I’d honestly give this a miss and head down to the bottom of the gorge, visit the Cheddar cheese shop, buy some proper local cheese and make your own — you’ll get better quality and far better value. For comparison, Rich’s Cider Farm near Highbridge (where our drinks came from) is a much better overall food and drink experience. Disappointing given the reputation.

Absolutely delicious sandwich! I had the salt beef and cheese toastie and it was honestly incredible – rich, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully melted together. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in, which made the whole experience even better. The café is set right in the heart of the gorge, just beside the entrance to the Cheddar Gorge caves, with the sound of water running through beside you. It’s a truly magical little spot – the kind of place you stumble upon and instantly want to return to. Highly recommended!
