Absolute 10/10 location! The tomato pie was really good, but we can see why some folks would call it "fancy pizza". Still - recommend trying a piece! Our favorite was the Shrimp and Grits with sausage added on! Amazing!

Adorable place! I tried their world famous tomato pie. It was good. I can’t say I have anything to compare it to though. My husband had the chicken salad sandwich which was a really good size. The staff was super friendly and the prices were reasonable.

Quirky. Charming. Beautiful. Comfortable. Enjoyed a lunch time birthday celebration here. Shady trees. Lovely flowers with lilting fragrances. Welcoming porch into hostess who took our name for seating. Restrooms available. Small gift shop with unique local items. Seated by a window. Fantastic server! Relaxing with reading the menu and recommendations. We each enjoyed our meals plus desserts. Three take out boxes for leftovers. The meals: 1. Chicken salad on green salad. 2. Shrimp and grits topped with Alabama sausage. 3. Vegetable Sampler with a 4 oz blackened chicken breast on side. Desserts: Peanut butter pie; Custard pie; Hummingbird cake.

If you’re looking for a charming, relaxed, somewhat boutique café experience while in Mentone—one that goes beyond a basic sandwich joint—Wildflower Cafe is a strong pick. The ambiance, handmade feeling, local flair, and menu variety (including vegetarian options) make it appealing.

Terrible food, long waits, adorable place, and friendly staff. Waited 90 minutes for a thoroughly overcooked burger. Had to choke it down by covering it in my kids nacho sauce. Would have sent it back but waiter never came back to check on us.. tomato pie was sorta good but was 90% crust. Men’s room is missing a stall, so be prepared to wait there too. Stop by to see the atmosphere then eat somewhere else. Staff was friendly..

Wildflower Café has all the charm on the surface — a cute gift shop, live music, and a quaint, artsy atmosphere that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto a hidden gem in the mountains. It’s even listed as one of the “Top 100 Places to Eat Before You Die,” which made us all the more excited to try it. Unfortunately, the dining experience did not live up to the reputation. We called ahead to confirm they were open but were never told that reservations were required or that they were fully booked. When we arrived, half the restaurant was empty, yet we were still turned away. We were told the online reservation portal didn’t work — something you’d expect them to mention if that’s the only way to secure a table. We settled for ordering takeout and sitting outside. I ordered the shrimp and grits — a recommended dish — but my order was entered incorrectly more than once. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, I had to pay the difference between the appetizer (which came in a small cup) and the entrée. The shrimp tasted like it had simply been boiled and peppered — not blackened, not flavorful, and definitely not worth the price. The outdoor seating area, while cute at first glance, was crawling with ants and spiders. Once the sun went down, the mosquitoes were relentless, making it nearly impossible to enjoy the meal. While the ambiance inside is definitely charming, and the live music added a nice touch, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. Between the poor communication, the food quality, and the lack of accountability, I won’t be returning — and I can’t recommend Wildflower Café based on this visit.
